Flying Lesson 7

I knew before I got to the airport that I would be practicing landings once again. That was tonight's lesson... landings, landings, and more landings. Some were good and some were pretty bad. We had a fair amount of wind and the weather was hot and muggy (humid). The landing practice consists of takeoff, and ascension to 2000' with a rectangular pattern around the airport within the alotted airspace, and of course the landing. I don't know if there is much more I can explain in detail about this flying lesson other than the concept of practice makes perfect.

Airport traffic was quiet tonight and I really wish the wind cooperated. I feel the windy conditions are making the landing portion of the flight quite a bit more difficult. I guess I need some type of crutch to lean on when it comes to explaining my poor performance. My next lesson is just two days away and I am assuming there will be more landing practice until I can learn to set the plane on the runway without blowing out the tires.

flight of plane I guess soloing is off in my not-so-distant future and I need a confidence boost. Right now I couldn't imagine myself taking the plane up alone and having to set it back down again without help. I can handle the pre-flight, the take-off, and basic maneuvering, but the landing seems like it will be what holds me back from solo flight. As with anything, pracftice makes perfect and I fully intend on gaining more practice as I have increased my schedule to two flying lessons per week. We'll just have to wait and see how things go later this week as this student pilot will be back in the air shortly.
