How to Make Cockpit Videos

learn how to make cockpit videosFlying is an incredible experience that some may never have the priviledge of experiencing for themselves. I'm not a 5000 hour super-experienced pilot by any means, but I thoroughly enjoy making cockpit videos to document many of my flights. I'd like to share the basics on how to make cockpit videos.

Some people are not fortunate enough to find themselves in a private plane for various reasons and others choose not to board a small airplane due to fear of flying. The next best thing however would be to share your cockpit videos with these individuals, your family, and friends. They are also a great keepsake for yourself for future viewing and reminiscing. I have gathered some info based on my experience making cockpit videos while flying to get you started.

how to make cockpit videos First things first, who ever said money can't buy happiness? What I mean is that all the pilot supply shops are now selling dash cams specifically designed for aircraft. They are capable of eliminating propeller blur. I don't feel propeller blur is a major issue but it is present in videos taken with a standard camera and if you are particular about this phenomenon, you may be better off peeling out your credit card and buying a cockpit camera. If you don't want to spend four or five hundred dollars on specialized equipment then I'll show you my method for using your standard old home video camera instead. This method has always been good enough for me, actually the propeller blur adds to the realism of the video and I have seen no reason to remove it. I think professional training videos are much nicer without propeller blur however home videos with the blur of the propeller in the forefront aid in giving you the on-board feeling.

I will update these page with additional techniques and info when I have time or when I improve my methods, but the current instructions are more than enough to get anyone started.
